December 2009: Chloe, a barrel racing pinto pony
who lost her sight and narrowly escaped a sale to slaughterhouse brokers from Mexico. Chloe will be great for our outreach programs as she just loves to be loved.
January 2010: Savannah the buckskin mare was kept in a small pen and tossed cow hay, she arrived malnourished and terribly neglected.
January 2010: Pirate arrived malnourished, neglected, and has obviously suffered some abuse. He's our super shy boy, only trusting the smallest of Rasta's caretakers.
January 2010: Daisy & Duffy theraputic sheep, who helped a boy as he went blind,
retired to Rasta's after seeing their boy become a young man.
Daisy past away in November.
June 2010: Lily the Goat joined Sgt. Pepper & Moon.
Lily was rescued by a young man who then found himself in need of a rescue. He lost his job and then his truck broke down and he found he could not provide for her as well as he wanted.
August 2010: Maggie: this little girl was dumped at a gas station in Socorro, New Mexico just after delivering puppies. Dew Paws rescued her from a pound there and somehow she made her way to Santa Fe where Rasta's would adopt her after having just lost a beloved pit bull--Bucky.
September 30, 2010: Stella rescued in Los Angeles via shared posts from Pinups for Pitbulls.
See the blog post Stella for more.
January 2011: Sadie, a German shepherd dog mix,
raised by humans from just 4 days old. Sadie came along in the wake of the loss of both our golden retrievers. Rudy, the caretaker of Rasta's land needed company and so did Twelve.
She was our littlest rescue to date, but not for long.
Summer 2011:Red: Oh, boy, what a big boy with a huge heart. Rasta's merely helped some truly devoted advocates and one super foster mom rescue this boy. After much training and love, never received in his 5/6 years, this boy received the best and is now up for adoption.
Summer 2011: Bella. This girl has already lost two homes, one due to family having to move and another due to breed discrimination. What's a rescue to do? She falling in love with the ranch family and of course really just wants to be a part of a family that she's not going to lose.
Rain: brought to us by our new friend Angela Stell of New Mexico Dogs Deserve Better. Angela found Rain playing at night in puddles, on the road in the dark, during a storm (in this case that many independent clauses are necessary). She needed to place her immediately else take her to a shelter. Well, we couldn't have that and now I know why, Rain was supposed to come here, she's one of my girls finding her way back home. I know this girl and she knows and loves me. Yes, we've met before.
August 2011: The 7 Little Pups, The Super Lucky 7: Well, here's one of them, the one we're calling Seven, because she's always last to be counted. We'll try to get a family portrait today. That should be fun as they have some serious exploration to do today in their new puppy yard.
